Continuous System Restart Blue Screen of Death

Hi Reyes,

Thank you for posting your question in Microsoft Community.

I understand that your computer is getting blue screen of death and restarts always, you are unable to boot to the desktop in Normal mode. Correct me if I am wrong.

I can imagine the inconvenience you have experienced. I will definitely help you in fixing the issue.

To help you suggest more steps to resolve the issue, I would appreciate if you could answer the following questions:

1. What is the exact error message in the blue screen of death?

2. Have you made any recent hardware or software changes to your computer prior to the issue?

3. What is the make and model of the computer?

I would suggest you to remove all the external devices from your computer except keyboard and mouse and check.

Please follow the below methods and check the issue:

Method 1:

I would suggest you to Disable automatic restart on system failure in Advanced Boot options menu to stop automatic restart for blue screen of death.

You can also choose Last Known Good Configuration as a boot option and check whether you are able to boot to the desktop properly.

Restart your computer and you need to keep trying the F8 menu until you do see Advanced boot options menu to Disable automatic restart on system failure option, and Last Known Good Configuration option.

Method 2:

Step 1:

Boot your computer in Safe mode by following the steps from the below links:

A description of the Safe Mode Boot options in Windows XP:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315222

To start the computer in safe mode:

http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx?mfr=true

If the issue does not occur in safe mode, then follow the next step.

Step 2:

You need to perform a Clean Boot to prevent any conflicting applications from interfering with the computer and check with the issue.

To place the computer in a Clean Boot state, you need to follow the steps from the article mentioned below –

How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" state:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353

Note: You need to follow Step 4 from the article mentioned above to get the computer back to Normal Startup after performing all the steps.

  1. *** STOP: 0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x8A5E6B00, 0xC0000102, 0x00000000)
  2. No. I haven't installed new hardware in my computer, just updated programs.
  3. The CPU is just an assemble of parts of other CPUs.

Just seen the BSOD Info because of METHOD 1 (thanks!) but I can't do METHOD 2; STEPS 1 - 2 because every time I entered the "Safe Mode", the monitor always says "NO SIGNAL" but the connection of the monitor to the CPU is fine. Please I need more help.

P.S.

Before the BSOD problem, after I pushed the power button in the CPU, the monitor did not open and the CPU just blinks on and then off it's like the moment I pushed the power button the CPU just suddenly turns off and then on again and continues to do it until I turn off the AVR and turn it on again. It often does that.

That message usually indicates your NT File System (NTFS) has gotten corrupted somehow (usually from a power interruption) and you are unlikely to be booting into any kind of mode until you fix it but you can sure try.  I don't know why the Microsoft engaged Support Engineer "experts" suggest these ideas that will never work, but they do.

You need to boot into the XP Recovery Console or something like a Hiren's Boot CD so you can run a disk check with error correction and that usually straightens things out.  You may need to run it a couple times.

Sadly, the MS Answers forums does not prompt for any system information when a new question is asked, so we know absolutely nothing about your system.

Not knowing fundamental information about a problem prolongs the frustration and agony of resolving these issues.

Thank you MS Answers, for continuing to make the resolution of simple problems as frustrating and time consuming as possible.

Please provide additional information about your system as best you can:

What is your system make and model?

What is your XP Version and Service Pack?

Does your system have IDE drives or SATA drives?

Describe your current antivirus and anti malware situation:  Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE), McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!,  Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc.

Was the issue preceded by a power interruption, aborted restart, or improper shutdown?  (this includes plug pulling, power buttons, removing the battery, etc.)

Does the afflicted system have a working CD/DVD drive (internal or external)?

Do you have a genuine bootable XP installation CD that is the same Service Pack as your installed Service Pack (this is not the same as any Recovery CDs that came with your system)?

If the system used to work properly, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did work properly?
